I like the way you played it really straight for the first two paragraphs then did the pull-back-and-reveal. I'd forgotten what day it was, so In The Middle's attempt confused me not by making me think "oh no, why are they letting Dick Cheney join them?" but "Oh no, why are they telling such a lame joke?". I hope no-one read the whole of my 2,000 words on Marxist historiography expecting a funny punchline at the end... I normally hate April Fools things but this one was actually really good.
